Painting
Since centuries man collects and domesticates everything that provokes his curiosity and affection and gives it a special place – at his side. A consequence of this behavior, at least in the West, is the appearance of Studiolos, Wunderkammer and World fairs, but also of the emergence of bothanical gardens. Classified and ordinated, the latter are examples of the confrontation between the rational mind and the chaos of the universe.
"Domesticated jungle" is a series of paintings, representing landscapes, abundant with vegetation. An aware look, reveals the marks of human presence – straight lines and flattened fields – within the natural scenes. On a technical level, the round shapes and repetitive patterns used in the pictorial representation, also support that last ideia.

In the portrait series, beyond the realistic representation, I´m interested in the psychological state and the character of the persons depicted. Sometimes I augment those personal traits, until the margins of grotesqueness.
